Kids Chef:

Cooking the food you eat teaches kids the importance of nutrition and the need to make healthy food choices. It all begins with ingredient-mixing fun and messy hands-on preparation in the kitchen. Your child will have the opportunity to help plan and prepare their lunch or snack. Children learn by touching, tasting, feeling, smelling, and listening. The more they know about food – where it grows, how it’s made, how to serve it – the  more they’ll enjoy eating it.

During the summer we plant a large organic garden. The children pick the vegetables they have grown and help to prepare meals with them. All year long we work side by side to make bread from scratch and churn butter the old-fashion way. Pie is homemade, pizza is crafted from Grandma’s recipe, and chicken is slow roasted with gravy and fresh mashed potatoes.

Our experiential Kids Chef program provides teaching moments in math and reading skills, chemistry and science, geography, art, history, health, fine motor skills, and socialization.
